History of NoFo True Value
In 1981, Joseph DiTusa and his sons Rich and Bob moved from the city to start a new hardware store on long island. Over the coarse of the next year they were able to convert the old gas station/garage on the corner of Washington Ave and Main Rd into what they would call “Jamesport Hardware”.
For the next 40 years this 3,000sqft family run origination supplied items from nuts and bolts to gardening supplies and everything in-between.
In 2021 Jamesport Hardware was set to close its doors as Bob and Rich looked forward to retirement. The owner of Westhampton True Value, Ted Jankowski, and manager Jeff Wachenfeld visited the store as customers were picking from the last items on the shelf. They noticed the shelves were empty but the locals showed up in large numbers to visit the store they all knew and loved. That’s when the decision was made to purchase the store and keep it a hardware store.
Over the next 7 months, crews came to remodel the store and convert it to North Fork True Value. We opened our doors October 2021 and look forward to serve the community for years to come.
